We would rather correct in public than be wrong in private.

Corrections

If a published piece contains an error of fact, we correct the text and add a dated note to the piece saying what was changed and why. The note stays with the piece. We do not remove or reword a published fact without a note.

Updates

Regulation moves. When a development changes what a piece says without making it wrong at the time it was written, we add an update note with the date rather than rewriting history. Every piece shows a “Facts as of” date so you know what it knew.

Withdrawals

If a piece cannot be corrected, because its premise was wrong or its sources have been withdrawn, we retract it. The address keeps working, the title stays, and the body is replaced by a dated notice explaining the withdrawal. Search engines are told not to index it.

How to tell us

Write to inquiries@taftcompliance.com with the address of the piece and the sentence you believe is wrong. A practitioner will reply within two business days. If you are right, the correction is made the same day it is confirmed.

What we keep

For every published piece we retain the sources, the text of those sources as it stood when we read them, the checks that were run before publication and the record of who approved it. That is how we can say how we knew something, months or years later.
